Three factors that may reduce life expectancy.
Scientists have long speculated that our bodies are designed to live up to 150 years, with some suggesting these limits may differ for each individual. However, the reality is clearly different. The human life cycle is on a downward trend, mainly due to the bulk of civilization's diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
This is not a distant problem but a pressing issue shortening our lives. Drawing from extensive scientific research and personal observations, I aim to shed light on the three key factors accelerating this decline.
Stress / Anxiety
Employers' unrealistic expectations of employees cause stress at work, and the demands on workers are increasing. If we compare what was required of our great-grandparents, we will understand that their lives were better. There was a specific split into working, resting, and family time, and now there is no such separation.
You are expected to always be available for the employer, with no exceptions, even on weekends or holidays. A person who is not rested is stressed. There is no time to regain strength and rest. And so, slowly, work-related stress destroys us from the inside.
Our most precious gift, health, suffers as a result. We may have financial gratification; perhaps some people have more gratification than others, but we all lose the same: time we could devote to ourselves, our family, and our health.
Junk food
As they say, you are what you eat. Eighty or ninety percent of the diseases of our civilization are related to food. Since the establishment of the fast-food restaurant, it has served customers fast food and quick filling of their bellies.
No one eats meals like before. People just quickly satisfy their hunger, barely finding time to eat, and not to mention the low nutritional quality of food humans consume. Refueling your car is a simple example: good quality fuel will allow you to go far and not damage your engine. Wrong fuel, we know what...
Interestingly, people know all this and think it does not apply to them because it is a distant problem. Someday, I may be sick or not. Today, I will eat something unhealthy quickly because I don't have time. Remember that if you don't have time to eat healthy food calmly today, you will find time for a doctor tomorrow. Unfortunately, there is no escape from this. And considering the quality of junk food, the time to see a doctor is very soon.
Lack of body movement
Our ancient ancestors were constantly moving. They hunted, gathered, and fished, constantly on the move. Movement was part of their lives, and it kept them healthy. Their bodies continued to function as they should, according to design, because movement is the primary task of the human body.
Our bodies were not designed to sit in front of a computer for several hours, which is the norm today. When something is designed for one thing and serves the function of another, it starts to break down. Lack of exercise results in problems with the spine and obesity.
Conclusions
Lack of exercise, unhealthy food, and stress reduce our lives. I hope no one doubts it. Now, what can you, dear reader, do to live longer:
The first thing is to take care of the food. It is a difficult challenge nowadays, but we don't have other alternatives if we want to bypass doctors and hospitals. The only solution is to cook yourself with unprocessed products. Such a sacrifice is worth it for your health.
The second thing is to make sure you exercise. Maybe it's going to the gym, running, or walking—anything that makes us move more than we sit. As the saying goes, movement is health, and I will say movement is life nowadays. It's hard to believe people won't find even a few minutes for stretching. "Where there is a will, there is a way."
The third thing is stress. Peace in your life and a stress-free life are always priceless. Stress destroys our body, and when we look back, it was never worth the price we paid for it with our health.
Whatever is causing you stress, you need to manage it, replace it, leave it, or change it. You have to do it because you are responsible for your life and health, and if your health declines, you will be responsible, not your boss or whoever is causing your stress.
Our body is like a vehicle we drive for decades of our lives. Let's take care of it to enjoy the ride long and far. Let's remember what we care about - we have for a long time.
And our health is worth taking care of no matter what, and older people certainly know it. Your most significant interest is to take care of your health because when you don't have it, you have nothing and can't do much.
That's just my suggestion about health. But it's your health, your choice...
